Fall Scent Jars

I’ve never really experienced Fall in the way that I have this year – living in a mountain town where the leaves change to gold and the night air is crisp enough to ensure you’re wearing your cute Fall outfit for function, not just fashion.

Yet Fall is more than a change of color in the foliage, it’s a feeling that you breathe in and smile about. That’s exactly what I wanted to capture in these scent jars. So, I found this easy-enough potpourri recipe on Pinterest and began my hunt for the ingredients.

  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Whole Cloves
  • Whole Allspice
  • Ginger Root Chunks
  • Dried Orange Slices

With no luck in finding any of these – even at our local health food store - I put the recipe away, hoping a trip to Denver would soon be in my future.

Then I remembered - Natural Grocers would finally open its doors this weekend! After an entire summer of anticipating what this unfamiliar company would bring to our little ski town, all of its beauty was revealed. Not to mention what this could mean for my cupcake baking!

I found bulk spices of everything you could think of, in alphabetical order and best of all – really affordable! I bought fresh oranges, the rest of the spices and drove straight home to get started on my little project.

I had been collecting jars of all shapes and sizes, knowing there would be some sort of craft I could use them for. All of the metal pendants I used are from old or broken jewelry and with a couple pieces of colored string - these jars turned out simple yet special, like a jar filled with treasure.

What’s inside truly is a treasure, the scent of Fall. Enoy!
